Cataplana Market Tour & Cooking Class

Begin your day with a vivid, hands-on dive into the culinary traditions of Portugal with a market tour and cooking class! The first hour is spent weaving through the colorful stalls of a famous fresh produce market where you will accompany your expert chef in buying the fresh products for your private cooking course. After the market tour, you’ll return to the chef’s restaurant near Albufeira to cook up the most iconic dish of the Algarve – the Seafood Cataplana. You will then enjoy the fruits of your labor and have a terrific lunch that you prepared.

Begin your day with a vivid, hands-on dive into the culinary traditions of Portugal with a market tour and cooking class! The first hour is spent weaving through the colorful stalls of a famous fresh produce market where you will accompany your expert chef in buying the fresh products for your private cooking course. After the market tour, you’ll return to the chef’s restaurant near Albufeira to cook up the most iconic dish of the Algarve – the Seafood Cataplana. You will then enjoy the fruits of your labor and have a terrific lunch that you prepared.

Sweet Cork - Honey & Cork Experience

Start the tour heading to visit a traditional beekeeper and taste 6 different types of honey, honey vinegar, traditional liquors. We will also see how the wax, honey, and pollen are produced by the bees and beekeepers' work from the honey picking until it’s bottled. We continue our day with a traditional lunch! After this, we will move to the mountains to visit a Cork Factory where you will learn all the processes of Cork until it is transformed into many objects and utilities.

Start the tour heading to visit a traditional beekeeper and taste 6 different types of honey, honey vinegar, traditional liquors. We will also see how the wax, honey, and pollen are produced by the bees and beekeepers' work from the honey picking until it’s bottled. We continue our day with a traditional lunch! After this, we will move to the mountains to visit a Cork Factory where you will learn all the processes of Cork until it is transformed into many objects and utilities.

Oysters of Faro

During this full-day tour, you’ll explore the rich natural wetlands of Ria Formosa Natural Park with a local biologist; explore one of the most exquisite islands in the Algarve, renowned for its quaint and historic fishing culture; a guided harvest of both mussels and oysters to savor as an appetizer; and finally, a traditional Cataplana lunch sourcing fresh ingredients from the sea. Traditionally the Cataplana was made out of beaten copper in the shape of a clamshell, making it easy for hunters and fishermen to fill it up with essentials like garlic, onions, olive oil, and fresh vegetables prior to catching fresh fish and game. Once caught, the Cataplana would be placed over a fire and would act like a pressure cooker in that it would steam the fresh food inside, locking in the flavors and juices while cooking – it’s the ultimate end to an incredible day! For those who adore stunning landscapes, fresh seafood, and incredible Portuguese hospitality, you’ll adore this tour.
