Cooking in the Costa Brava

Five days of market visits, coastal cooking, and a producer or two along the way, ending with a dinner the group makes entirely on their own.

5 to 6 days

Costa Brava, Spain

Day 1

Arrival

Arrival at your exclusively booked boutique hotel on the Costa Brava coast. The rest of the day is unstructured, time to settle in, walk down to the water, and get a first look at the coastline that will shape everything the group cooks over the next few days. A welcome dinner in the evening introduces the region's food culture before anyone picks up a knife.

Day 2

Market Day

The morning starts early with a visit to a local market alongside a chef, picking through stalls of just-caught fish, seasonal vegetables, and the region's cured meats and cheeses. Back in the kitchen, the group turns that morning's finds into lunch, with the chef walking through technique as they go rather than following a fixed recipe. The afternoon is left open to digest, literally and otherwise, before a relaxed group dinner.

Day 3

From the Sea

A boat heads out along the coast in the morning to source the day's seafood directly, whether that means pulling up alongside a local fisherman or stopping at a small coastal cooperative. Back on land, the afternoon is spent breaking down and cooking the catch, likely a mix of grilling, curing, and a few techniques specific to Catalan coastal cooking. Dinner is the group's own work, plated and shared at a long table.

Day 4

Meet the Producers

A slower day built around a visit to a local producer, an olive oil mill or a family-run cheese maker, followed by a guided tasting that explains what makes the region's products distinct from anywhere else in Spain. There's time built in to wander the surrounding countryside or coastline before regrouping for dinner, which leans on what was tasted earlier in the day.

Day 5

Advanced Techniques & Closing Dinner

The final full cooking day pushes into more advanced techniques, building on everything covered earlier in the week. The evening closes with a dinner the group cooks entirely themselves, a last chance to put the week's lessons together into one final meal before saying goodbye to the coast.

Day 6

Departure

A relaxed final morning, with time for a last coffee by the water before heading to the airport. There's no set itinerary today, just a quiet close to a week built around food, coastline, and a few new techniques to bring home.
