Art enthusiasts will love our Spain for Art Lovers, which takes guests on an extensive 8-day tour of the best of Spain. From the stunning Modernist influences in Barcelona to the classical works of Spain’s most influential artists found in Madrid’s best museums to the Moorish influences on art and architecture throughout the south, you’ll see it all on this immersive tour. In between, you’ll also be engaging in the local culture, tasting the famous tapas of each stop along the way, indulging in the region’s best wines, and exploring the hidden corners of some of Spain’s most beautiful towns.

SAMPLE ITINERARY

DAY 1

BCN CULTURAL ORIENTATION: FOOD & WINE

Today’s food and wine tour is all about decoding Barcelona using its great bars and restaurants. You will learn about Barcelona’s gastronomy, history, and strong cultural identity while you eat and drink your way around its charming streets. You will be led to the four principle neighborhoods of Barcelona (l'Eixample, el Raval, el Gotico and el Born) with a local expert and learn all about the colorful history and cultural nuances of Barcelona and the region of Catalonia. We’ll visit local establishments for tasty gourmet dishes and a wide variety of wines from around Spain and Catalunya.

DAY 2

4-HR BCN HIGHLIGHTS TOUR

In this immersive Barcelona city tour, you’ll delve deeper into the various corners of the city, hitting some of the major highlights of Catalan architecture and culture. From Gaudi’s masterpieces like Sagrada Familia, and Casa Batllo, to other modernist masterpieces in the city like the Palau de la Musica, you will learn all about the unique vision that sets this Catalan city apart.

DAY 3

MUSEUM TRIANGLE MADRID

Today we take the AVE fast train to Madrid where you’ll spend the day soaked in culture, wandering the halls of the city’s esteemed art museums, the Prado, the Reina Sofía, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. Your fun and dynamic guide will bring the art to life, taking you on a tour of Spain’s history through its great works by Picasso, Dalí, El Greco, Botero, Velázquez, Goya and more.

DAY 4

DISCOVER EL GRECO IN TOLEDO

Today is dedicated to Toledo’s beloved El Greco, the Greek artist and architect of the Spanish Renaissance. Your excellent guide will take you on a fun and informative tour of the charming El Greco Museum where you’ll get to see the work he produced during his time in the city, when it was the religious capital of Spain. Afterwards, you might pop into the local church to see El Greco's stunning last masterpiece.

DAY 5

GRANADA AND THE ALHAMBRA

Today we’ll be arriving to the beautiful mountaintop town of Granada where you’ll begin your day a tour of the famous Alhambra palace. There you’ll learn its fascinating history, before exploring the city itself. You’ll have the chance to see other local landmarks, experience the cuisine, and perhaps even a flamenco show in one of its famous caves.

DAY 6

RONDA AND THE WHITE VILLAGES

This day is dedicated to visiting the stunning cliffside city of Ronda, one of the oldest in all of Spain. You’ll get to explore the city and its famous New Bridge before traveling on to some of the other fabled white villages in the region. You’ll get to stroll through these small towns, filled with quaint corners and picturesque countryside views, stopping in the local shops and trying the local cuisine.  

DAY 7

SEVILLA URBAN ESCAPE

Today you’ll spend the day in beautiful Sevilla, focused on the beauty of its art and architecture. On your guided tour, you’ll get to explore the city’s cultural highlights, such as the stately Plaza España, the royal palace with its stately gardens, and the grand Gothic style cathedral. You’ll also see the city’s more modern edge, perhaps taking in the view atop the playful “setas,” the Metropol Parasol.

DAY 8

RETURN TO BCN

Today we take the train back to Barcelona where you’ll catch your flight home.
