SPANISH WINE CLASSICS - RIOJA AND RIBERA DEL DUERO
The two most iconic wine regions of Spain are La Rioja and the Ribera del Duero. On this 6-day wine tour we will do a deep dive into each of them in a luxurious and incredible manner. You will fall in love with the terrific wines of Spain, enjoy the tasty local cuisine and meet some fun locals along the way. This is the perfect plan for any Spanish wine lover!

Day 1
INTO WINE COUNTRY
Meet you private guide and driver in Madrid abd together we’ll drive 2 hours north toward Peñafiel, an important town in the DO Ribera del Duero. Upon arrival we will head straight to the top of the majestic castle that looks over the whole region. Following our tour of the castle, we will head down into the town for an awesome lechal (suckling lamb) lunch at a wonderful traditional tavern that was once a water mill. We’ll then head to an amazing 5-star hotel that is a centuries old monastery and has a great spa!
Day 2
RIBERA DEL DUERO DAY
This day trip is all about getting to know D.O. Ribera del Duero. We’ll visit visit a modern and a traditional winery, learn more about the local wine production and taste quality wines produced in the area! These wineries are selected to give you an interesting contrast, trying one that is small and family run, along with another that is larger and is one of the top rated in the area. As we drive between locations you will enjoy fantastic views of ancient castles and monuments. Evening at leisure in your luxury hotel.
Day 3
SPA & WINE DAY
Time to totally unwind and realize that you are on a luxurious vacation! Enjoy the Spa at the hotel, get a long relaxing massage, drink terrific wines and take it easy...you deserve it!
Day 4
INTO LA RIOJA
Check out of your hotel and begin your transfer towards La Rioja. We will stop off in Burgos for a fabulous lunch with local wine and then visit the famous cathedral. We will then touch down at our boutique hotel in the beautiful village of Laguardia. Once settled, a fun local guide will pick you up and take you to his private tasting space where you will enjoy a fantastic wine tasting and private meal. The objective of this is to give you a full crash course into the wines of this area.
Day 5
CYCLING LA RIOJA
Today we will have a leisurely day, cycling through wine country on mostly flat paths. You will fully be able to appreciate the beauty of the landscape as you breeze past all the amazing vineyards. End at a small family run bodega and enjoy an awesome picnic lunch prepared for you between the vines. Evening at leisure.
Day 6
VIVANCO & DAVALILLO
For your final day in La Rioja, we will head to the museum of wine culture. This spectacular complex is the largest wine museum in the world, an ambitious project of the Vivanco family, displaying their amazing private collection of wine materials, including ancient drinking vessels, centuries old pruning shears, and all types of wine paraphernalia. This is a must-see when visiting the Rioja. Following our visit, we will head to a great little lunch venue in the area for a traditional Riojan style lunch. We will then lead you up to the Romanesque, Castillo de Davalillo. Head back to your hotel and get ready for a wonderful goodbye dinner!
