ESSENTIAL ANDALUSIA

This extended 6-day tour takes you to the heart of Spanish culture and cuisine with a journey through some of the country’s most iconic southern cities. In this culturally rich tour, you’ll get to know some of the most important traditions of the region, from tapas tours to sherry tastings and an Andalusian horse show. There will be no shortage of art and architecture as you explore the beautiful structures of the Alhambra, the art of Greco, and the iconic white villages of the south. You’ll get to escape to the Medieval city of Toledo, famous for its swords and immerse yourself in Madrid’s capital city culture and to learn about the famous tapas culture.

Day 1

SEVILLE URBAN ESCAPE

Today you’ll spend the day in beautiful Sevilla, focused on the beauty of its art and architecture. On your guided tour, you’ll get to explore the city’s cultural highlights, such as the stately Plaza España, the royal palace with its stately gardens, and the grand Gothic style cathedral. You’ll also see the city’s more modern edge, perhaps taking in the view atop the playful “setas,” the Metropol Parasol.

Day 2
EXCURSION TO CORDOBA

After being picked up by your guide at your hotel, we’ll head straight Cordoba. Today’s visit will take you back in time to the glorious kingdom of Al-Andalus. Cordoba, situated on the legendary Guadalquivir River, boasts monuments to both its Islamic and Christian heritage. See its mosque (known as the Mezquita) a fine example of Islamic architecture that features intricate arches. You’ll see the contrast with the Gothic style of the city’s World Heritage-listed cathedral, then walk along the narrow alleys of the former Jewish quarter. After a great local lunch, we will get you back to Seville for an evening at leisure.

LUNCH WITH LOCALS

Today you will gain a true insight into the life of a local Sevillano. Meet your host at the famous food market in Triana and together you will shop for ingredients that are fresh and in season. Then head back to his home and you will cook a fantastic lunch together.

Day 4
JEREZ & CADIZ DAY TRIP

Today we spend the day exploring the traditions of Jerez. We begin with a visit to a local sherry producer, where you’ll get to know all about how these specially aged wines are made. From the process to the final tasting, you’ll leave an expert on this invaluable piece of Jerez culture.

EXCURSION TO THE ANDALUSIAN WHITE VILLAGES

This day is dedicated to exploring the charms of the south. We’ll begin our day with a visit to a family run olive mill, where you’ll learn all about the local olive oil, how it’s made, and of course enjoy a tasting. From there, we’ll travel on to the stunning cliffside villages surrounding Ronda. Filled with quaint corners and picturesque countryside views, you’ll get to explore these small towns, stopping in the local shops and trying the local cuisine. You’ll be spending the night in the city of Ronda, one of the oldest in all of Spain.

Day 6
GRANADA AND ALHAMBRA

Today we’ll be arriving in the beautiful mountaintop town of Granada where you’ll begin your day with a tour of the famous Alhambra palace. There you’ll learn its fascinating history, before exploring the city itself. You’ll have the chance to see other local landmarks, experience the cuisine, and perhaps even a flamenco show in one of its famous caves.
