Wine lovers will rejoice with our Into the Vineyard tour, which takes guests on an in depth tour of the best of Catalonia’s wine regions. This complete 6-day tour of the region will highlight both the best of Barcelona and the surrounding wine regions in a unique tour that will leave you brimming with new knowledge about Catalan wines and cavas. From the fresh coastal wines of the Costa Brava to the big bold reds of Priorat, you’ll see it all on this immersive tour. You’re sure to find your favorite wine among the bunch, and come away with a good breadth of knowledge about what makes the wines of this part of Spain so special. Of course, we wouldn’t let you leave without a taste of the region’s famed vermouth and local tapas, so come ready to indulge!

SAMPLE ITINERARY

DAY 1

BARCELONA FOOD AND WINE TOUR

Our first day on the tour is designed to tickle the palate with a food and wine tour of the city. This insider’s tour will introduce you to the best local hot spots for food and wine. There will be no shortage of either, as we taste the local tapas and discover the many wines and cavas of the region. We seek out the authentic Barcelona, introducing you to the  charming old bodegas of the city, where you’ll find the experience infused with local character and learn about what makes eating like a local so great.

DAY 2

DISCOVERING BARCELONA'S LANDMARKS AND THE WINES OF PENEDéS & PRIORAT

We will spend this morning in Barcelona, seeing some of its best highlights, like the Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, the Gothic quarter, and of course the city’s famous food market. The early afternoon will find us popping in the car and heading to Penedès, an hour south of the city for lunch at an organic winery and a visit to their cellar. Then we’ll head further south to the famed region of Priorat where red wine lovers will get to discover the big bold reds of region, made from Carignan and Grenache vines. We’ll spend the sunset hour in the charming mountaintop town of Siurana, and return to the center of Priorat for the night.

DAY 3

DELVING DEEP INTO THE WINES OF MONTSANT & PRIORAT

This morning, we wake up in the small winemaking town of Gratallops. From here, we will visit two vineyards in the Priorat region, where you’ll have the chance to see the incredible costers (terraces) of vines and learn about the region’s important llicorella soil that makes the wines of Priorat so prized. Afterwards, we’ll head to the neighboring region of Montsant, another well-known winemaking hub, where you’ll learn about its subtleties and how its coming to stand apart in unique ways from its neighbor. We’ll return to Gratallops for the evening.

DAY 4

HIKE TO SCALA DEI & A CAVA TASTING

This morning we leave Gratallops, and take a two hour (downhill) hike down to the famous Scala Dei Monastery, known as the origins of winemaking in the Priorat. There we’ll have a tour of the winery and an olive oil tasting before visiting the local monastery to learn more about how it all began. We’ll have a beautiful 3-course lunch in a local restaurant before heading off to the Penedès region for an afternoon visit to a local cava producer. Tonight, we’ll sleep in the local capital of Vilafranca.

DAY 5

DISCOVERING THE BEST OF COSTA BRAVA

This morning, we wake up in the small winemaking town of Gratallops. DAY 6

MEDEIVAL GIRONA AND VERMUT IN ALELLA

On our final morning, we will take a tour of the beautiful medieval city, including the wonderfully preserved Jewish quarter and other landmarks. Then we’ll continue down to the town of Alella, just north of Barcelona, where we will stop off for an afternoon vermouth, have lunch in a local tavern and then finish our tour back in Barcelona where we’ll say our final “Adeu”.
